my story

As a drummer and speech-language pathologist, I've been captivated by the ways in which music, communication, and skill development intersect. My unique background inspired me to create Drum Language -- a project that explores the relationships between music, language, and education. I've had the privilege of working and recording with remarkable groups such as Freighter, miRthkon, and legendary jazz pianist Larry Vuckovich.

These experiences have deepened my understanding of how music and language can work together to convey complex information and create powerful connections. Beyond drumming, I'm a blue belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, a lifelong downhill skier, and a speed bagger. These pursuits have informed my approach to skill development and mastery, which influences my approaches to drumming, therapeutic intervention, and innovation.

Through Drum Language, I aim to share my insights into communication development, technology, musical thinking, evidence-based practices, and autism. As the co-founder of iTherapy and iTherapy, a Speech Pathology Corporation, and co-publisher of Autism Digest, I continually strive to learn, grow, and share my knowledge with others in the hope of making a positive impact on the lives of those with communication challenges.

In my personal life, I'm a husband, father, and stepfather to four kids. This aspect of my life adds an extra layer of meaning to my work, motivating me to create a better world for my family and others. Last but not least, I continually strive to create unique, fun music on the drums — exploring new rhythms, strange genre combinations, and interesting sounds with a variety of musicians and backing tracks.
